My curry with Pickles

Hot and spicy may not be the normal words used to describe an evening with Eric Pickles, but this week they were. MyConservatives.com is the fantastic online campaigning resource that we launched at Conference last year and I managed to call the most voters before Christmas. The awesome prize for my hundreds of calls was curry with our legendary Party Chairman Eric Pickles MP!

Not knowing quite what to expect from the evening I was whisked off in a taxi to Tower Hill and arrived at Eric’s favourite Indian restaurant. He was soon to follow with a massive grin and big congratulations. Pappadoms, starters, curry, all very yummy and a little funny. It wasn’t long before we were chuckling together over his crazy anecdotes and tales of his rise to the top and exploration of London’s curry houses. It was as though he was an old friend – now I really understand the ‘chums’ thing!

In fact it was then that it struck me that we have cracked it – not only are we listening to people again, we are the people! We have changed and now it’s time for us to campaign and make sure people know and tell them how we are going to change the country.
