What is MyConservatives?

MyConservatives is an online network that lets you campaign for the causes and candidates that you care about.

Why should I join?

In the run-up to the General Election, it's really important that everyone who supports the Conservative Party gets involved in our campaign to help turn Britain around. If we're going to bring twelve years of Labour incompetence to an end, it'll take a massive effort from all of you so we've created MyConservatives to make campaigning as easy and as accessible as possible.

How do I join MyConservatives?

Go to www.myconservatives.com/user/register and complete the form - it's a two minute job. To make life even easier, if you're on Facebook you can register by pressing the 'Facebook Connect' button which makes the process even easier. Remember though, you have to enter your address as a mandatory field.

How do I join a campaign?

Once you're signed in, press the 'Campaigns' tab at the top of the page and up pops a screen with a series of different causes you might like to join. Put your postcode in to find your local campaign - do note however that over the first few weeks after launch we'll be populating the site with campaigns from all over the country, so it's possible that you'll have to wait a bit until your local area makes it on. In any case, you can join campaigns outside your specific patch, or any of the national campaigns.

Scroll around the local campaigns on the left-hand side and the national single-issue campaigns on the right and when you find one that catches your eye, click on it and then press 'Join Campaign'. This will send a message to the Team Leader who will let you know if they've confirmed your participation.

Do I have to be a member of the Conservative Party?

Nope, it's open to members and non-members alike.

Can I join MyConservatives.com if I do not have a UK post code?

At this time it is not possible to register on MyConservatives.com with a post code outside the UK. You can however donate to a campaign, without being a registered member of the site. Please note, however, that if you are not a citizen of the United Kingdom your donations are limited to a maximum of £500 combined.

Fundraising

How do I donate to a campaign?

It's really straightforward. Every campaign has a thermometer on the left-hand side of the page with a targeted fundraising amount. Underneath that, just press the 'Donate' button and give via credit or debit card, or PayPal.

Who gets the money?

All the money you give goes to the campaign you've donated to.

Do I have to be a member of MyConservatives.com to donate to a campaign?

No anyone can donate to a campaign, registered or not. In order to donate you just need to click on the Donate button on a candidates campaign page, which will take you to the donation form and from there you can donate. Please note, however, that if you are not a citizen of the United Kingdom your donations are limited to a maximum of £500 combined.

General

Can I create a campaign?

At this time, campaigns can only be created by Parliamentary Candidates and MPs. It's definitely our ambition to open that out to a wider audience soon, but for now we've got to focus on the main objective - and that's winning the General Election by fighting hard in constituencies all over the country, and by campaigning on the big issues the Party is passionate about.

Who built this website?

We've teamed up with Europe's biggest digital marketing agency, LBi, to develop MyConservatives with us. Check them out here: www.lbi.com.

Is it a social network?

Nope. This network is mostly geared towards campaigning. Although it has some similarities with Facebook in the way it's laid out its main purpose is not socialising, blogging or chatting - you can join us at Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter to do any of those things.

What's with the Beta tag?

We really love MyConservatives and hope you will too - but we know it's not the finished article just yet. The site will be constantly evolving over the coming months as we respond to feedback from users and add new features. So that's why the Beta tag is there: to let you know that MyConservatives is still a work in progress.

How do I change my photo?

You can upload any JPEG image, but the optimum size is 270 x 202. Before uploading go into your profile click the top right link 'My Profile' > click the 'Edit Profile' button > scroll down to 'Picture' and tick 'Delete Picture'.
