Sign the petition to help stop Labour's dog tax

Under Labour proposals, all dog owners in England and Wales would be forced to purchase third-party insurance, while the owners of illegal dangerous dogs would continue to evade the law.

  Shadow Environment Secretary Nick Herbert said: “Labour’s classic response to every problem is to create a new tax. The dog tax will just pile more cost onto ordinary owners whose pets pose no risk to the public while failing to tackle the problem of dangerous dogs. 

We need to look again at the law and at measures that could help the police and local councils control the minority of irresponsible owners who use their dogs as weapons.  The last thing we need is to penalise millions of responsible dog lovers with a new tax.”
